THE OUTSTANDING YOUNG MALAYSIAN AWARDS (TOYM) 2009

The Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards (TOYM) 2009 Is An Awards Programme Initiated By Junior Chamber International Malaysia. It Is Being Hosted By Junior Chamber International Kuala Lumpur Mandarin (JCIKLM).

National badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Malacca State Assemblyman Datuk Gan Tian Loo are among 30 finalists nominated for The Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards. Datuk Lee Chong Wei was nominated in the Personal Development and Accomplishment category and Datuk Gan Tian Loo in the Political, Legal and Governmental Affairs category.

TOYM 2009 Chief Judge Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the finalists for the ceremony on 7 November 2009 were short-listed from more than 100 nominations.

“They were chosen based on their caliber and accomplishments. It is a chance to reward these young Malaysians for their outstanding achievements or contributions in their respective categories.”

Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Razak will be the guest of honour at the ceremony at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa.

A criterion in the judging of the finalists will be the extent to which a nominee’s achievement exemplifies the last tenet of the Jaycee Creed “that service to humanity is the best work of life”.

The panel of judges comprises former Transport Ministry Secretary-General Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam, Former Army-Chief, Gen. Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd. Azumi Mohamed, Director-General of Special Affairs Department, Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture, Datuk Fuad Hassan, Former MP of Kuantan, Datuk Fu Ah Kiow and Metro Kajang Managing Director, Datuk Eddy Chen Lok Loi.

Any individual or registered organization in Malaysia can nominate any young Malaysian, who aged between 18 to 40 years-old, with outstanding achievement or contribution in one of the following categories:
1. Business, Economic or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment
2. Political, Legal and Government Affairs
3. Academic Leadership and Accomplishment
4. Cultural Achievement
5. Moral or Religious Leadership
6. Contribution to Children, World Peace or Human Rights
7. Humanitarian and Voluntary Service
8. Scientific and Technological Development
9. Personal Improvement and Accomplishment
10. Medical Innovation
